The Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Fisheries Salem al-Soqtari met today, in the temporary capital Aden, with the Acting Resident Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Yemen Adam Yao.
They discussed agricultural, livestock and fisheries development projects in Yemen, as well as ways to enhance cooperation in projects and programs implemented by the organization.
The conversations also addressed the project intended to support and develop the dairy value chain in Yemen. Preparations by the Ministry and the FAO underway for the project which is funded by the World Bank with a total cost of 100 million US dollars.
The project aims to advance livestock wealth in several governorates by improving local livestock breeds, enhancing the livelihoods of farmers and herders and developing milk collection systems.
The talks also covered the main interventions of the 'GEEF' project in Socotra governorate and the Hoof Natural Protected in al-Mahra governorate in the agricultural, environmental and fishery sectors.
