Vice Foreign Minister discusses Italian Special Envoy for Yemen strengthening bilateral relations

Vice Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Mustafa Noman discussed Thursday with the new Italian Special Envoy to Yemen Marco Giongi strengthening bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and ways to enhance and develop them in many fields.

During the meeting, which was held on the sidelines of the eleventh session of the Rome Mediterranean Dialogues Forum, developments in the situation in Yemen and the region were reviewed.

The Deputy Foreign Minister referred to the regional and international mediation efforts made to relaunch the political process in Yemen under the auspices of the United Nations and the government's openness to various initiatives that would alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people and bring comprehensive and just peace to Yemen.

For his part, Marco Giongi affirmed his country's commitment to continuing to support humanitarian relief efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people, as well as supporting the efforts of the UN envoy to find a political settlement to end the conflict and bring lasting security and peace to Yemen.

In this context, Vice Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Mustafa Noman met Thursday with the President of the Italian Association of International Organizations (SIOI), Ambassador Riccardo Sessa. He discussed with him bilateral relations between our country and the association, which is affiliated with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, developments in the political, security and humanitarian situation in our country were discussed. They reviewed current regional and international issues of common interest.

The Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and President of the Association called for the resumption of bilateral cooperation through the Association organizing training projects and programs for government sector employees in our country, most notably the resumption of the project to train the Yemeni diplomatic cadre.

For his part, Ambassador Ricardo Sessa welcomed the Deputy Minister's visit to the Association's headquarters. Pointing out that he will discuss the possibility of requesting the inclusion of Yemen among the countries benefiting from the association's projects for the coming period.
