The European Union (EU), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Yemen have announced the signing of a 10 million euro (11.4 million USD) agreement to strengthen climate-resilient agricultural food systems, create jobs, build more sustainable livelihoods and boost economic recovery in Yemen.

Education Minister Signs Strategic Partnership with World Food Program to Strengthen School Feeding in Yemen

Minister of Education Dr. Adel al-Abbadi and the World Food Program (WFP) Representative in Yemen Dr. al-Khader Dolo signed Thursday a strategic partnership agreement aimed at strengthening cooperation during the upcoming phase in the field of school feeding.

The partnership covers several areas, including strengthening school feeding programs, supporting the development of a national school feeding strategy, exploring joint financing mechanisms, expanding the locally sourced school feeding model, and enhancing the technical and institutional capacities of the Ministry of Education to manage and develop school feeding programs.

Minister al-Abbadi emphasized the importance of strengthening the existing partnership between the Ministry and the World Food Programme and developing it in line with the needs of Yemen’s education sector, particularly in the area of school feeding.

He highlighted school feeding as one of the social protection programs that support children's continued education and improve their academic performance.

The Minister of Education praised the significant support provided by the World Food Program to Yemen, describing it as a key partner for the Ministry in implementing school feeding programs.

He affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening coordination and partnership with the Programme to ensure the sustainability of these programs and expand their reach to benefit more children.
