Defense Minister discusses with US Ambassador latest developments in Yemen
[26/09/2024 05:56]

RIYADH - SABA
Minister of Defense Lieutenant General Mohsen al-Dai'ri discussed on Thursday with the U.S. Ambassador to Yemen Stephen Fagin and the Senior U.S. Defense Representative at the embassy Colonel Storts Peebles latest developments in Yemen.

The meeting addressed the ongoing attacks by the Houthi militia on the armed forces' positions, their continuous threats and operations against maritime navigation routes, and their persistent evasion of commitments to achieve peace.

The Minister of Defense stated that the international community's leniency toward the Houthi terrorist militia has encouraged them to escalate their attacks on commercial ships, threaten maritime navigation, and extort the international community.

He emphasized that the most effective way to halt these threats is to support the capabilities of the armed forces and the government so they can fulfill their constitutional and legal duties in liberating areas under Houthi control and imposing security and stability.

General al-Dai'ri confirmed that various branches of the armed forces are operating at a high level of coordination through the Joint Operations Authority of the Ministry of Defense, with everyone working toward a common goal: ending the Houthi terrorist militia's coup and restoring state institutions.
For his part, the U.S. Ambassador affirmed his country's support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the government in their efforts to achieve peace and stability in Yemen.
