Health Minister discusses strengthening cooperation with French Ambassador

Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Qasem Buhaybeh met Tuesday with Catherine French Ambassador to Yemen Catherine Corm-Kammoun discussing with her enhancing bilateral cooperation in the health sector and the possibility of transferring French experiences in supporting and developing health systems in various countries.

Minister Bahibeh reviewed the current state of the health sector and the challenges it faces, particularly the decline in funding and Yemen's need for support to bridge the gap created by reduced assistance from donors.

He praised the efforts of French friends in humanitarian interventions in the health sector through various organizations.

The Minister commended France's supportive stance towards the Presidential Leadership Council and the government, as well as its repeated condemnation of the Houthi militia's attacks on the interests of the Yemeni people and vital economic facilities, as well as threats to international navigation and trade.

He reiterated the Yemeni government's support for international efforts aimed at achieving a just, comprehensive, and sustainable peace.

For her part, the French Ambassador reaffirmed her country’s steadfast position in supporting the Yemeni government and people, as well as the efforts of the UN Secretary-General's special envoy to establish peace in Yemen.

She expressed her willingness to explore solutions for funding and support in training and qualifying personnel involved in the medical referral program, emergency services, mobile diagnostic clinics, and rehabilitation and training in conflict-affected areas.
