The first batch of Yemeni citizens stranded in Sudan, consisting of 180 people, arrived on early Monday on board a Yemeni Airlines plane to Aden International Airport, after being evacuated by Saudi ships from the city of Port Sudan to the city of Jeddah.

"The Yemenia company will, as a first stage, operate two flights from Jeddah to Aden airport to transport 450 stranded Yemeni citizens, with the first flight carrying 180 stranded, and the second flight carrying 270 stranded," said Mohsen Haydara, commercial director of Yemen Airways, to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba).

He added, "The process of transferring those stranded in Sudan to the homeland comes as a translation of the directives of President Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, based on his keenness to follow up on the conditions of Yemeni citizens and facilitate their evacuation and transfer to the homeland."

The commercial director of the Yemeni company Haidara appreciated the Saudi efforts to evacuate Yemeni citizens and other citizens of other countries due to the difficult situation and the ongoing conflict in Sudan.
