A consultative meeting held today in the temporary capital Aden discussed the activities of the joint actions project to support food security and nutrition in Yemen.

In the meeting, which included the Food and Agriculture Organizations, FAO, World Food and UNICEF, the Minister of Water and Environment, Eng. Tawfiq Al-Sharjabi, stressed the importance of joint cooperation in the field of food security, reviewing the efforts undertaken by the government in partnership with the FAO in this regard.

He pointed to the government's aspiration to witness more joint cooperation in the coming period to absorb the major threats to food security and avoid the risk of starvation in a number of Yemeni governorates that suffer from a shortage of food imports due to the eight-year-old Houthi war, in addition to the effects of the Ukrainian crisis on global food security.

He stressed the importance of analyzing information and data related to areas whose population is classified as in a critical situation with regard to food security, as this data is the nucleus that helps the government represented by the relevant ministries in implementing food security tackling measures.
