President of the International Committee of the Red Cross Peter Maurer has hailed the outstanding development in normalizing life and bringing back security and stability to Aden, stressing that ICRC will continue its support and efforts to provide relief in Yemen.
Prime Minister Ahmed Obeid Bin Daghar on Sunday received here Maurer and a accompanying delegation of ICRC, affirmed that the government will provide all facilities and support to ICRC and other human rights organizations to help them accomplish their tasks.
During the meeting attended by Aden Governor Abdul-Aziz al-Maflahi, a number of ministers and officials, the premier exalted efforts made by ICRC to alleviate the Yemeni people's suffering.
He further citied that the Houthi-Saleh militias agitated the war in Yemen after they carried out a coup which started with besieging the residence of President Abdu Rabbu Mansour Hadi and the government.
He called the international community and all organizations to reject the coup and chaos, and put pressures on the Houthi-Saleh militias to accept the solution terms of references which were approved by the Yemeni parties including the Houthi-Saleh militias.
The premier said that the Houthi-Saleh militias carried out arbitrary detentions against civilians and all those people who oppose their policies, pointing out that over 3000 prisoners including children are still held inside their custodies.
He further submitted a list of the detainees names to Maurer, citing that the militias recruit children and use civilians as human shields.
He spelt out that the destruction made by the Houthi-Saleh militias in Taiz is a clear-cut evidence of the Houthi-Saleh militias' crimes.
He expressed willingness of the government to exchange all prisoners through ICRC and the United Nations, signaling out that the militias continue rejecting the UN resolution which provided to release the Defense Minister Mahmoud al-Subaihi and major generals Nasser Mansour, Faisal Rajab and other detainees.
He also said that the militias are trying ten journalists because they expressed their opinions and opposed the militia's behaviors, asking the United Nations and other human rights organizations to intervene and release them without condition.
In the meeting attended by a number of Yemeni ministers and officials, Aden Govenor called ICRC to double its efforts in the field of relief and humanitarian aid, and open its headquarters in the temporary capital of Aden.
