The Governor of the Socotra Archipelago, Engineer Raafat Al-Thaqali, discussed with the Director of the Humanitarian Aid and Development Organization (HAD) in the governorate, Dr. Salem Al-Shanqbi, new interventions in the agricultural, tourism and hygiene sectors with the support of the United Nations World Food Program (WFP(

The meeting touched on the new intervention plan that targets the agricultural, tourism and hygiene sectors, and capacity building for local communities, within the Livelihood Support Project, which aims to transfer vulnerable communities from a state of dependence to a state of self-sufficiency for sustainable living.

The Governor stressed the importance of finding effective means of early warning to reduce the effects of disasters and help the community to prepare for dangerous events related to the climate, and to include it among the important proposals needed by the governorate.
