ADEN - SABA
The Yemeni government has called on the Security Council to condemn the targeting of government and service facilities, residential neighborhoods and civilian sites by terrorist Houthi militias, as well as attacks on civilians, calling for holding Houthi militias accountable for the repercussions.
This came in two letters sent by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates to the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres and the President of the Security Council for October, Agelaia Balta, regarding the Houthi escalation and the attack on the Maashiq Presidential Palace in the temporary capital, Aden.
The ministry explained that the attack, carried out with missiles and drones on October 15, resulted in the death of five security personnel and injuries to 16 others, considering that targeting the presidential and government headquarters is an escalation that threatens Yemen's security and stability.
The two letters cited Houthi attacks on residential neighborhoods and gatherings of displaced people in Marib, as well as attacks on civilians and residential areas in Taiz and Lahj, in addition to repeated attacks on Aden International Airport, warning about their impact on civilians and regional security.
The letters also stressed the need for full implementation of UN Security Council Resolutions 2140 and 2216, taking practical measures to prevent weapons, missiles, drones and their components from reaching the Houthi terrorist militias.
