The U.S. Embassy in Yemen has stated that the inspection of any vessel by the United Nations Verification and Inspection Mechanism in Yemen (UNVIM) does not mean that it is safe from U.S. sanctions, especially those ships, entities and individuals providing material support to the Houthis.

Prime Minister receives US ambassador to Yemen

Prime Minister Maeen Abdulmalik received Monday US Ambassador to Yemen Stephen Fagin within international efforts for supporting the government in its efforts for fighting Houthi terrorism and threatening maritime navigation and the security of the region.

During the meeting, the two parties exchanged viewpoints on UN and international position to deal with the terrorist attacks by Houthi terrorist militia on ports of exporting oil.

The meeting confirmed significance of continuing Yemeni-US cooperation to control smuggling Iranian weapons and drugs to Houthi militia and the accomplishments of this cooperation in the past.

Prime Minister praised US humanitarian support to Yemeni people and important interventions in a number of vital sectors like water, health, education and sanitation, in addition to USAID's role of public capacity building.

He reviewed the government's accomplishments since the beginning of this year in field of inclusive reforms adopted by the Presidential Leadership Council and the government and the positive results of this reform in keeping prices down and stable price of Yemeni Riyal.

For his part, the US diplomat made it clear that his visit to Aden is a message to show support to Yemeni government's efforts during the past period, renewing his country's denunciation to Houthi militia's aggressions and violations.

He pointed out that these terrorist attacks by Houthi militia will have impact on all economic and humanitarian domains and arrival of food assistances to Yemen.

He praised government's accomplishments in different fields despite challenges and international conflicts, especially in field of food security, confirming commitment of the United States' support in humanitarian field and continuous partnership in state capacity building.
