Foreign Minister Dr. Afrah al-Zouba received today a copy of the credentials of Merete Juhl, Denmark’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Non-Resident Ambassador to Yemen.

Al-Zouba welcomed the Danish ambassador, wishing her success in her new duties and affirming the ministry’s readiness to provide the necessary support to facilitate her mission and strengthen cooperation between the two friendly countries.

She praised Denmark’s supportive positions toward Yemen and expressed hope for further developing bilateral relations and strengthening political and diplomatic coordination on issues of mutual interest.

The Foreign Minister also reviewed developments in Yemen and the repercussions of the Houthi escalation, including displacement waves and damage to civilian institutions and essential services. She affirmed the government’s continued efforts to fulfill its responsibilities toward citizens and displaced people, while working with international partners to address humanitarian needs and alleviate their suffering.

Al-Zouba warned of the dangers posed by continued Iranian military and technical support for the Houthi militia, saying it threatens Yemen’s security, regional stability, and the safety of international navigation and trade. She also warned that Houthi-launched missiles pose risks to civil aviation and the lives of passengers.

For her part, the Danish ambassador stressed that her country attaches particular importance to Yemen’s security and stability and to regional security. She renewed Denmark’s support for Yemen and expressed her readiness to work closely with the Yemeni government to strengthen bilateral cooperation and address humanitarian and security challenges, including enhancing maritime security in the Red Sea.
