Prime Minister Dr. Maeen Abdulmalik received today in the interim capital Aden the UN Under-Secretary- General and the Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Natalia Kanem who arrived in Aden on an official work visit.
The discussions focused on several topics relating to humanitarian and population situations in Yemen, the projects are being carried out by the UNFPA, how to upkeep the role of National Council for Population and Health Care and support for youth.
Dr. Maeen welcomed Dr. Kamen in the temporary capital Aden, briefing her on the government's efforts to improve health care and basic services, suggesting active partnership with the UNFPA in order to help realizing the Sustainable Developments Goals.
For her part Dr. Kamen stated that the UNFPA increased the total amount of assistance for Yemen last year from $10 million up to $80 million, citing the plans in progress to further increase the finances.
