Yemen's Prime Minister Maeen Abdulmalik said the viable resolution to the country's humanitarian crisis "lies in addressing the root causes of it represented by the Houthi militia's coup" of September 2014 and the war they waged afterward.
In a meeting with senior members of the UN's different agencies and organizations in the temporary capital Aden on Sunday, Abdulmalik elaborated that therefore the solution "comes through peace, restoring the state, and rebuilding state institutions."
He said the UN is a partner for his government in sponsoring peace and Yemen expects it to play a greater role in promoting the state capacity so as to help extricate Yemen from this humanitarian crisis.
He said Yemen also hopes the Riyadh Agreement between the government and the Southern Transitional Council will lead to bolster the position of state institutions and represent a big step towards a wider peace.
His government's plan for the coming period, he said, "is to normalize life in the liberated regions and spread security.
He ordered his government to facilitate the mission of UN organization as they carry out their mission in Yemen.
