Kuwait expressed its satisfaction with the return of humanitarian agencies to operation in many areas of Yemen as a result of increased funding for the 2019 Humanitarian Response Plan.
In an address to the Security Council session on Yemen Kuwait's Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Mansour Al-Otaibi said that Kuwait's pledges in support of UN humanitarian activities in Yemen since the beginning of the crisis there amounted to about $ 600 million, of which $ 350 million has been delivered to agencies, international organizations and relief agencies.
Al-Otaibi stressed the need not to obstruct the flow of humanitarian aid and stressed the importance of cooperation with humanitarian agencies, especially the World Food Program.
He praised the positive role the Yemeni government plays by continuing to pay salaries to public sector workers and retirees in addition to the continuous efforts of the country's Economic Committee through facilitating the flow of fuel shipments to the country.
