Ministry of Public Health and Population along with the WHO shipped Sunday medical aids to Socotra Archipelagos province within the Response Plan to the emergency case in the wake of Mekunu cyclone.
Deputy minister of Health Ministry Dr Ali Al-Waleedi told the Yemeni News Agency (Saba ) the shipment included 30 tons of medicines and medical stuffs.
Dr Al-Waleedi stated that the Ministry initiated to dispatch a medical team to assess the disastrous situation in the island with the purpose of increasing the emergency relief actions and dispatch more medical shipments as soon as possible.
He said:" Because of the environmental and health situation created by rains and floods efforts are underway in coordination with the WHO to carry out pesticides spray campaign to control Malaria and Dengue Fever in the provinces that have been subject to bad weather and tempests".
" It is a preemptive move to prevent pandemics, particularly provinces of Hudramout, Al-Mahara, Aden, Abyan, Lahj and Socotra", he added.
