The Arab Economic and Social Council, in its 116th ordinary session held at the League of Arab States headquarters in Cairo, discussed the file of supporting the Republic of Yemen.
The council issued Resolution No. (2488), which tasked the League's General Secretariat to coordinate with Yemen to conduct a study on the possibility of establishing an Arab fund to finance the development needs plan and urgent infrastructure projects in Yemen.
The resolution responds to Yemen's proposal and translates the call made by President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, during the Arab Development Summit in Baghdad, for an effective Arab mechanism to rebuild Yemen and support stability and development efforts.
The resolution also urged the international community, Arab and regional funds, and donors to provide urgent assistance to Yemen to address the humanitarian and economic challenges facing the country.
