His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) received today, Thursday, the crediting documents of the Ambassadors of the Republic of Italy Mr. Carlo Baldocci, the Kingdom of Norway Mrs. Kjersti Tromsdal, the Republic of Albania Mr. Saimir Bala, the Hellenic Republic Mrs. Aikaterini Varvarigou and the State of Kuwait Mr. Falah Al-Mutairi.

President al-Alimi welcomed the new Ambassadors, wishing them all the best in their diplomatic missions, promising them facilities and support to help them doing their diplomatic jobs to serve bilateral relations between Yemen and their countries.

The President expressed his appreciation to the international community for its efforts to firming up its presence during this critical phase of the Yemeni people's history.

The president explained that this critical moment doesn't just concern Yemen alone, but relates to regional security, the safety of international navigation and the future of the international system based on respect for state sovereignty and international law.

He went on to say that the recent Houthi escalation is not a sudden development but was expected by everyone, as it doesn't come from Yemeni calculations, but rather is part of a regional agenda linked to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
The Iranian regime uses the Houthi militias as a bargaining chip whenever Tehran faces political or military pressure, he remarked.

The President also restated that the government welcomed all serious peace initiatives, while the militias, every time there seemed to be a chance for calm, they frequently used to create a new problem, open a new front, target international navigation or go on escalating against neighboring countries.

The President also touched on the humanitarian tragedy caused by the Houthi terrorist militias, noting that more than twenty million Yemenis are in need of some form of humanitarian aid.

He made it clear that this humanitarian catastrophe was not caused by geography, sanctions or the international community, but rather by the policies of the coup, war, looting of resources, economic destruction, prolonging the conflict and turning state resources into tools serving a cross-border military project.

In this context, the President emphasized that any humanitarian support should go hand in hand with supporting state institutions so that aid does not become a factor in prolonging suffering.

The Chairman of the PLC updated the new Ambassadors on the government's efforts to make institutional and economic reforms, work on restoring state institutions, enhance transparency and improve the investment environment.
He reiterated that that investing in the internationally recognized Yemeni government and its national institutions is the shortest path to establish stability in Yemen and the region, as well as secure the waterways.

The President also touched on Iran's destabilizing role in militarizing local communities, threatening international navigation and undermining peace prospects. In this context, he expressed his deep appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its responsible role in supporting the Yemeni economy, state institutions, peace efforts and humanitarian response plans.

The President underlined the importance of seizing the moment the region is going through to reshape the equations of security and stability.

"This is moment provides a real opportunity to end the model of cross-border armed militias, which over the past decades has destabilized a number of countries in the region, prolonged conflicts and threatened the global economy", he said.

The Chairman of the PLC also reaffirmed that Yemen will no longer accept being an open field for blackmail by militias and will strive, by all means and in partnership with the international community, to secure one of the world's most important maritime routes and reduce terrorism, piracy, illegal immigration and organized crime.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Afrah al-Zouba was in attendance.
