ABYAN-SABA
The Saudi-backed Masam Project for Landmine Clearance in Yemen has destroyed 4,573 items of unexploded ordnance and other explosive remnants of war in Wadi Dofas, Abyan Governorate, as part of ongoing efforts to reduce threats to civilians.

The destroyed items included 321 assorted artillery shells, 3,465 rounds of various ammunition, 41 anti-personnel mines, 11 anti-tank mines, 31 hand grenades, two thermal missiles, 15 improvised explosive devices (IEDs), 322 solid penetrators, 333 assorted fuzes, and 32 propellant charge boxes.

Speaking to Masam’s media office, First Special Tasks Team Commander Engineer Munther Qassem said the destroyed ordnance had been collected from the governorates of Aden, Abyan, and Lahj during the team's operations to clear affected areas of unexploded war remnants.

He warned that explosive remnants of war continue to pose a direct threat to civilians, stressing that tampering with or approaching suspicious objects could lead to fatal accidents, particularly among children and women.

Qassem urged citizens not to handle any suspected explosive remnants and to immediately report their locations to the relevant authorities.
