Yemen’s Minister of State for Women’s Affairs, Dr. Ahd Jassous, met on Wednesday with the British Ambassador to Yemen, Abda Sharif, to discuss issues related to the general situation of Yemeni women, their rights, and ways to enhance their empowerment across various sectors.
The meeting addressed the impact of humanitarian and economic conditions on women in Yemen, as well as mechanisms to support programs and initiatives aimed at improving women’s participation in public life and increasing their presence in decision-making and peacebuilding roles.
Dr. Jassous reviewed the main challenges facing women in Yemen, particularly in economic, social, and political aspects, and the broader impact of the current situation. She emphasized the importance of strengthening partnership with the international community and intensifying joint efforts to empower women and build their capacities in support of sustainable development and stability.
For her part, the British ambassador reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s commitment to supporting women’s issues in Yemen and enhancing cooperation with the Yemeni government in the fields of economic and social empowerment, as well as providing technical and programmatic support to improve women’s conditions and expand their participation across sectors.
