Cabinet Reviews Houthi Escalation, Calls for Stronger Response
[11/08/2026 05:31]

ADEN - SABA
Prime Minister Shaya Zindani chaired a Cabinet meeting in Aden on Tuesday to assess the latest Houthi military escalation and its security, economic and humanitarian consequences.

The Cabinet reviewed the recent attacks on Mokha Port, civilian facilities and displaced people in Hadramout, Marib, Taiz and Dhale, continued attacks on commercial vessels, fighting along the front lines and attacks on civilian targets in Saudi Arabia.

It said the pattern of attacks points to a deliberate effort to widen tensions and test the ability of the government and international community to respond, stressing that the Houthis should be treated as a threat to regional and international security.

The Cabinet said the government would not accept attempts to impose new realities by force and would continue protecting civilians, vital facilities and national interests.

It urged the international community to move beyond repeatedly containing Houthi attacks and address the sources of the militia’s military capabilities, particularly Iranian support, which enables threats against Yemen, neighboring countries and international shipping.

The Cabinet reaffirmed that restoring state institutions and ending the Houthi coup are essential to lasting peace, while directing government agencies to maintain high readiness, protect vital facilities and ensure essential services and supply chains remain operational.

The Foreign Minister briefed the meeting on diplomatic efforts to build stronger international action against the Houthi escalation and protect civilians, vital infrastructure and maritime navigation.

The Cabinet also praised Saudi Arabia’s continued political, economic and humanitarian support for Yemen, calling it essential to helping the government overcome challenges and preserve stability.
