The Economic Team Leader Hussam al-Sharjabi reported the PLC on economic, financial, and monetary performance indicators, the course of comprehensive reforms and the measures proposed by the Central Bank of Yemen (CBY) to urgently address the problem of liquidity shortage, while maintaining the stability of the national currency.
The PLC approved a set of recommendations to adapt to regional and international changes, ensure the flow of goods, maintain basic services and enable the state to deliver on its obligations and alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people caused by the Iranian regime backed Houthi terrorist militias .
The PLC praised the efforts of the government and the CBY, which led to the resumption of Article IV consultations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) after a pause of more than 11 years.
The PLC addressed the involvement of the Houthi terrorist militias in regional military escalation and their attempt to turn Yemen into a tool for regional blackmail which constitute a direct threat to national security, the safety of international navigation and opportunities for stability and economic recovery.
The PLC restated its warning to the Houthi militias about the consequences of their military adventures aimed to support the Iranian agenda and attempt to use Yemeni territories as a platform to target maritime shipping and international interests, considering these practices as acts of aggression against Yemen and a threat to the interests of its people and its national security.
The PLC reiterated the condemnation of the Republic of Yemen for the blatant Iranian attacks on the lands and sovereignty of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
It stated that it is very necessary for the Iranian regime to adhere to the ceasefire declaration, fully open the Strait of Hormuz and to abandon its hostile policies, expansionist agendas and the spread of chaos and sabotage in the region through its terrorist militias.
