Yemen’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Abdullah al-Saadi held Saturday discussions with the Chargés d’Affaires of the permanent member delegations to the UN Security Council on the situation in Yemen and the latest developments in the eastern governorates, as well as the efforts of the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government to enhance security and stability.
During separate meetings, Ambassador al-Saadi expressed appreciation to the Chargés d’Affaires of the United States, the United Kingdom, China, and France for the generous response of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the request of His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, to host and sponsor the comprehensive dialogue conference on the Southern Issue.
He commended the Saudi position as reflecting the Kingdom’s leadership’s keenness and its continued support for Yemen, its security and stability, and its backing of the Yemeni people’s aspirations for peace, stability and development, as well as addressing national issues through dialogue.
The meetings also addressed the mandate of the United Nations Mission to Support the Hodeidah Agreement (UNMHA), within the framework of ongoing consultations regarding the draft UN Security Council resolution related to the mission’s status and future.
Ambassador al-Sa'adi reaffirmed the Presidential Leadership Council’s and the Yemeni government’s commitment to supporting all regional and international efforts aimed at achieving peace, restoring state institutions, and fulfilling the Yemeni people’s aspirations for security, stability, and development.
