His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) received a cable of congratulations from the United Nations (UN) Secretary General Antonio Guterres on the 35th anniversary of the Republic of Yemen National Day, May 22.
In the cable Guterres said, "I extend my best wishes to you on the occasion of the National Day of the Republic of Yemen and I am pleased to convey my best wishes to the people of the Republic of Yemen on this special day."
The UN Secretary General added "'National celebrations also provide opportunities to reflect on shared global challenges, as the international community faces a growing list that requires multilateral solutions, from the climate crisis to conflicts, to the worsening aspects of inequality.
This is precisely the spirit of the 'Charter of the Future,' and this action adopted by the UN General Assembly last year stems from the necessity to strengthen multilateralism and promote peace, sustainable development and human rights for all".
