The Member of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) Lieutenant General Mahmoud al-Subaihi received today, Tuesday, at Maashiq Palace in the temporary capital Aden, a delegation from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) headed by the organization's Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa Othman al-Balbeisi.
They discussed a range of topical issues relating to the migration, including joint cooperation between the Yemeni government and the IOM, situations of the migrants from the Horn of Africa countries to Yemen and illegal immigration.
The conversations also touched on the IOM's interventions and most prominent current projects, which include emergency relief programs, voluntary return and development initiatives in several governorates such as Aden, Marib, Taiz and the coastal areas.
Al-Subaini highlighted the need for pooling regional and international efforts to develop effective and sustainable solutions to the problem of the increasing flow of irregular migrants to Yemen.
The PLC's Member called on the IOM to increase its support and interventions in the fields of healthcare, expanding the capacities of shelter centers and providing food, water and essential services.
