[09/04/2025 12:16]
OTTAWA-SABA
The Canadian government announced the start of new customs measures as of today, Wednesday, including imposing a 25 percent duty on the import of some types of American cars.

Canada's Finance Ministry said in a statement that the tariffs would remain in place until the United States revokes customs measures that targeted the Canadian auto sector. U.S. goods that were en route to Canada before the date the tariffs came into effect will not be subject to the new measures.

The Canadian government has published additional technical details on how the duties will be applied via the Canada Border Services Agency website, to clarify the enforcement mechanism for importers and traders.
