German economy shrinks by 0.2 percent
[15/01/2025 07:28]
BERLIN-SABA
The German economy contracted by 0.2 percent in 2024 compared to 2023.

The German Federal Statistical Office said in a statement today, Wednesday, that the contraction is occurring for the second year in a row after a contraction of 0.3 percent in 2023, noting that the burdens related to growth and the structural structure of the economy stood in the way of better economic development in 2024.

According to the report, the most prominent burdens are the high competition for German goods in the important markets for these goods, high energy prices, high interest rates and a shortage of skilled labor.
