MARIB - SABA
Member of the Presidential Leadership Council, the Governor of Marib Major General Sultan al-Aradah, discussed Thursday with the military advisor to the UN envoy to Yemen Anthony Hayward the military developments and the continued escalation of the Houthi terrorist militias and their impact on the UN's efforts to achieve peace in Yemen.
Receiving the UN advisor and the accompanying delegation in Marib, al-Aradah reiterated the political and military leadership's commitment to supporting the UN's efforts and all regional and international endeavors aimed at establishing comprehensive and just peace in Yemen, which meets the aspirations of Yemenis for security and stability.
He emphasized the need for the international community and the UN to reassess their stance on the Houthi terrorist militia, which has become a direct threat to regional and international peace and security, to maritime navigation in the Red and Arab seas, and to global trade routes, disrupting shipping in the most critical maritime straits in execution of the Iranian agenda.
Al-Aradah reviewed the forms of escalation by the Houthi terrorist militia in its ongoing war against the Yemeni people across military, economic, social, and intellectual dimensions, and its systematic targeting of national identity and efforts to undermine the values of the Yemeni people.
He pointed out the necessity for the international community to take urgent measures and political and economic decisions to limit the movements of the Houthi terrorist militia that threaten security and stability at local, regional, and international levels, and to dry up its internal and external sources of support.
At the same time, he called for providing necessary support to the legitimate government to enable it to assert control over the entire national territory and impose law and order, restore state institutions, and help it face the worst economic and humanitarian crisis caused by the Houthi terrorist militia in Yemen, and to work on alleviating its effects on the Yemeni people.
For his part, the UN envoy's advisor clarified the international community's commitment to achieving security and stability, succeeding in the peace process, and alleviating the humanitarian situation in Yemen.
He reaffirmed the UN's commitment to providing necessary support to the legitimate Yemeni government and continuing its efforts and communications with various parties to achieve peace and to ensure that all parties fulfill their commitments in all areas.
