[18/08/2025 03:32]
MARIB-SABA
The third workshop on sustainable solutions for internally displaced persons (IDPs) was held in Marib Governorate, as part of a joint project between the United Nations and the Yemeni government.

The workshop brought together representatives from the local authority, humanitarian and development partners, non-governmental organizations, and activists to discuss current efforts and approve a durable solutions action plan.

Deputy Governor of Marib, Dr. Abdrabuh Miftah, highlighted the challenges facing the local authority in addressing the humanitarian needs of the displaced, who make up a significant portion of the governorate's population.

He praised the humanitarian role of partners in assisting the local authority but noted that the decline in humanitarian support and lack of equitable distribution of aid have increased the challenges.

The workshop aimed to identify sustainable needs and priorities, and to develop a matrix of solutions in partnership between government institutions, humanitarian partners, and the United Nations.

The goal is to secure funding and implement these solutions to alleviate the suffering of both the displaced and the host community.

Dr. Miftah emphasized the importance of transitioning humanitarian interventions from emergency to sustainable interventions that help recovery and enhance the capacity of government institutions to provide public services. He commended the humanitarian role of the United Nations organizations and the Internal Displacement Solutions Fund in adopting this project, which focuses on sustainable solutions.
