Liverpool regained the lead in the English Premier League by defeating its guest Brighton 2-1 in the tenth round of the competition.

Liverpool benefited from the loss of its competitor Manchester City, the title holder, in the same round to regain, the lead in the competition standings after raising its score to 25 points, two points ahead of Manchester City. In contrast, Brighton's score came to a halt at 16 points in seventh place.

In another match, Bournemouth inflicted the first defeat this season on its guest, Manchester City, after beating it 2-1, raising Bournemouth's score to 15 points in eighth place, while Manchester City dropped to second place with 23 points.
