Japan recorded a trade surplus of 224.038-billion-yen last month, while analysts had expected a trade deficit of 240 billion yen, compared to a deficit of 1.220 trillion yen in May last year.
The Japanese Ministry of Finance stated in a statement today that Japan's exports last June increased by 5.4% year-on-year to 9.208 trillion yen, while analysts had expected an increase of 6.4%, down from the 13.5% increase in May.
Imports increased by only 3.2% to 8.984 trillion yen, while forecasts indicated a growth of 9.3% after declining by 9.5% the previous month.
