U.S. Embassy: UN inspection of ships in Yemen does not mean they are safe from U.S. sanctions
The U.S. Embassy in Yemen has stated that the inspection of any vessel by the United Nations Verification and Inspection Mechanism in Yemen (UNVIM) does not mean that it is safe from U.S. sanctions, especially those ships, entities and individuals providing material support to the Houthis.

Al-Socotri discusses cooperation with Director of FAO for improving agriculture

Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Salem al-Socotri discussed Friday with Director of FAO Qu Dangyu support and coordination between Yemen and the organization in agricultural and fishery sectors.

Minister al-Socotri pointed out to the government's approach of gradual recovery and transferring from emergency projects into to survival and sustainable development ones in agricultural and fishery sectors.

He also pointed out to the plan of the ministries of agriculture and of fisheries to enhance the role of agricultural and fishery sectors in improving food security approved by the government.

He touched upon the plan's containment priorities in field of growing grains to reduce import invoice of wheat, in addition to improving cash-generating crops, especially coffee, honey, cotton and dates, as well as improving ways of irrigation and transferring into protected agriculture.

The minister touched upon also qualifying fish unloading centers and improving different types of fishing.

For his part, FAO's director uttered readiness of the organization to support efforts and plans of the government of the government of Yemen.

The organization authorized a team from the organization to make field visit to Yemen to define necessary needs for implementing the study of fishery stockpile and means of improving fishing management, he said.
