Prime Minister Dr. Maeen Abdulmalik stressed the importance of the role played by journalists and media professionals in preserving the ethics of the profession and not spreading rumors and false information, and defending this sacred profession from those who are forced to do so and for whom social media has provided space for spreading rumors and influencing social peace.
This came in the Prime Minister's speech delivered today, Wednesday, at the opening of the second Yemeni media conference, which is organized by the Center for Studies and Economic Media over a period of five days under the slogan "Bleeding Lives and Challenge Freedom", where he welcomed the convening of this conference, in which a large group of Yemeni media professionals participated to help reach visions that help preserve the space for freedom of expression in this difficult and delicate circumstance that Yemen is going through, especially for journalists and media professionals.
The premier pointed to the role that media professionals and journalists must play in preserving professional ethics and the code of honor and returning media work to its true path, as it was exposed during the eight years of war to many challenges.
He pointed to the escalating tone of hatred, racism and rationalism, and the role that the on the Fourth Estate undertakes in preserving social cohesion and fighting rumors.
He said, "There is a difference between freedom of expression based on professional ethics, telling the truth and preserving social peace, and spreading rumors and misinformation.
