The Director of the National Mine Action Program, Brigadier General Amin Al-Aqili, warned of a new spread of landmines swept away by torrential rains from the positions of the Houthi coup militia.
Al-Aqili said in a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), "The program has received reports from citizens stating that there have been mine explosions and the sighting of individual mines that were washed away by torrents from the Mala'a mountain range in the Harib district, south of Ma'rib governorate, and other mines that were washed away by torrents in Wadi al-Hajla, north of the district."
He added, "Other reports from Marib and Shabwa confirm the presence of mines that were washed away by torrential rains to Wadi Khair, Wadi Al-Karaa, and Wadi Beihan in the districts of Beihan and Asilan in Shabwa Governorate, and other mines that were washed away by torrential rains from Wadi Al-Falaj to the Al-Maseel area in the Ma'rib district of Al-Wadi, and Wadi Ragwan, north of Ma'rib Governorate."
