’Water Minister seeks German collaboration in Water sector

Minister of Water and Environment Eng. Tawfiq Asharjabi held discussions today, Saturday, here with the Head of International Cooperation in the German embassy in Yemen over the acute water crisis in the urban areas.

The Minister touched upon the water crisis in the city of Taiz noting that the daily needs of the city's population exceed 70 thousand cubic meter meanwhile the water wells which in operation now hardly produce 5 thousand cubic meters per day due to the shortages of power.

Asharjabi also stated that there is a looming water crisis in Aden governorate due to the hugely draining of the water fields which supply the city with water.

The German official stressed that it is very important to boost cooperation about the work on water sector, concentrate on the most affected regions.
