FM discusses with EU official humanitarian situation in Yemen

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ahmad Bin Mubarak discussed Saturday with Deputy Director General of Civil Protection and Humanitarian Assistances Operations at the European Commission Michael Kohler humanitarian situation in Yemen and means of boosting cooperation between Yemen and the EC.

Bin Mubarak praised the role played by the European Union as prime and active partner of financing Humanitarian Response Plan in Yemen, expressing government's aspirations for more cooperation and coordination in development and survive projects and institutional capacity building.

He reviewed government's efforts for improving economic situation, activating institutions and national capacity building, pointing out to challenges facing the government and require support of European friends to overcome them.

He confirmed that Houthi rebel militia's violations and besieging cities and continuous aggression against civilians across Yemen are the prime reasons complicating humanitarian crisis, pointing out to the militia's looting and hindering humanitarian assistances.

He demanded the European Union to exert pressure on Houthi militia to stop trading with humanitarian suffering for political gains and stop oil crisis the militia creates from time to time.

For his part, the European talked about efforts provided by the European Union for alleviating humanitarian suffering in Yemen, renewing EU's commitment for continuing humanitarian support to Yemen and support to the government.

He expressed appreciations to the government for facilitating humanitarian activities.
