Yemen's Marib closes entry points, declares 11-hour curfew over coronavirus
[24/05/2020 03:00]
MARIB-SABA
Yemen's eastern province of Marib has closed its entry points and declared an 11-hour curfew from 6:00 pm to 5:00 am every day until further notice over coronavirus fears.

The local authorities in the government-held province crammed with hundreds of thousands of fugitives from the Houthi theocratic militia in the country's northwest set the curfew to start from Sunday.

The authorities decided to deploy medical, humanitarian and media teams to close the province's entry points for passenger coming from Sana'a and Aden, two covid-19 infested cities.

The authorities renewed the ban on assemblies including markets, congregational prayers in mosques, wedding halls, amusement parts and other venues of gathering.

They approved a proposal of new hotel quarantines presented from the national coronavirus committee.

"Every citizen has to be aware of this hazardous plague which can cripple the health systems of advanced countries, let alone Yemen's system, already weakened and destroyed since the Houthi militia's seizure of power," said Marib governor Sultan al-Eradah during the authorities' meeting on Saturday.
