Prime Minister Dr. Ma'een Abdulmalik received Thursday a phone call from British Minister of State for Middle East and North Africa James Cleverly.
The phone conversation dealt with the developments in Yemen and the British support for the legitimate government.
Dr. Ma'een briefed Cleverly on the political developments in the wake of the declaration of the so-called" Self-administration of the south" by the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and the Houthi militia's rejection to the cease-fire truce announced by the Yemeni government and Arab Coalition in support of legality in Yemen in a response to the call by the Chief of the UN.
They also touched upon humanitarian aspects, economic hardship amid outbreak of coronavirus pandemic and Yemen donors conference 2020.
The Prime Minister praised the British government's supportive stance in support of the legitimate government, highly appreciating the British statement about the so-called " self-rule of the south".
Dr. Ma'een touched upon the subsequent implications of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) reckless move and destructive acts including looting the public revenues and resources in the interim capital Aden, military escalations and hindering the efforts aiming to stem the spread of coronavirus.
The Prime Minister blamed Houthi militia for rejection the cease-fire truce announced by the Yemeni government and the Saudi-led Arab Coalition to devoted the efforts to control coronavirus pandemic.
The British Minister reiterated his country's stance about the STC's declaration the so-called self-administration of the south. He stated that it is very necessary for the STC to renounce that and return to Riyadh Agreement to put it in place quickly.
Cleverly expressed his country's support tto the Yemeni government's efforts to manage the economic hardships. He said " We're going to work along with International Community to provide the necessary support for that".
