MARIB-SABA
The spokesman of the Yemeni army said the Houthis committed 74 violations of the ceasefire within the first 24 hours of its unilateral declaration by the Arab Coalition declaration.
Brig. Abdu Mujalli told Saba on Friday afternoon the militia had attacked the army's military outposts in different warfronts since the ceasefire entered into effect at 12:00 hours on Thursday noon in local time.
"The militia's attacks varied from missiles and mortar rounds through armed drone flights and ground advance attempts to landmine planting and mobilization of fighters on the frontlines," he said.
The militia "mounted 21 attacks in Salab and Najd al-Ataq in Sana'a province and Qaniya in Beidha province; shelled villages with tanks and mortar rounds in Qayfah; and launched a strong offensive" to capture Al-Labinat and al-Khanjar, two military barracks in Aljawf, north of Yemen.
In Taiz in Yemen's southwest, the militia "mounted 17 attacks to the east and west of the city," he said to cite examples of the many violations.
The Coalition declared the ceasefire on the hope Houthis will cease hostility actions and contribute to the government's efforts to prevent a feared outbreak of the global pandemic of coronavirus.
