The speaker of Yemen's House of Representatives Sheikh Sultan Al-Barakani today participated in the opening session of the 141st Assembly of the IPU in Belgrade and the 205th session of the IPU Governing Council in Belgrade.
The session, with the participation of more than 1,800 parliamentarians from 149 countries, attended by more than 70 parliamentarians, UN and civil society representatives from around the world, will discuss the issue of “strengthening International Law: Parliamentary Roles and Mechanisms and the Contribution of Regional Cooperation”.
At the opening session, a number of welcoming speeches focused on the roles that regional and national parliaments and the Inter-Parliamentary Union should play in promoting and enforcing international law with a view to preventing conflicts and consolidating the values of dialogue and peace.
