Custom Authority, in cooperation with Success and Stability Economic Program in Yemen, launched Tuesday here Creditable Operator Program "Reliable Merchant."
Financed by USAID, the program aims at facilitating trade activity and granting reliable merchants the privilege of jointing the program.
Deputy Minister of Finance Salem bin Buraik said launching the program comes as a first step of institutional reconstruction and improvement years after destruction and damage caused by Houthi-triggered war, hoping that the program would be a prime track for awareness and boosting partnership between the government and the private sector for realizing economic growth.
"The Ministry of Finance and Custom Authority have had worked on preparation for many factors on economic movement, in addition to improving and reforming infrastructure … to keep pace with international custom management, overcoming many challenges created by Houthi militia war," he said.
For his part, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Salem Salman confirms that the ministry seeks to encourage commercial activities and promoting it as real partner for economic growth in the country.
Meanwhile, Deputy of Custom Authority Abdulhakim al-Qubati said the Reliable Merchant Program grants privileges to trade institutions abiding by regulations made by custom authorities, confirming that the establishments, which will be approved, will get privileges led by facilitating measures and accepting electronic payment.
The Director of Success and Stability Economic Program in Yemen Abdulwahab al-Awdi made it clear that the project represents the first step of implementing trade activity with lesser cost and shorter time via facilitating custom's measures.
