VP, Swedish Special Envoy for MENA discuss Yemen developments
[19/02/2019 02:46]

RIYADH-SABA
Vice President Ali Mohsen Saleh and the Swedish Special Envoy for Middle East and North Africa Peter Semneby discussed Yemen's developments and the bilateral Yemeni-Swedish relations in a meeting on Tuesday.

The meeting dealt with the Stockholm Agreement that the government reached with the Houthis on December 13, the obstacles that stand in the way of its implementation and the impact of that on the political process and the UN peace mediation efforts.

The Vice President expressed his appreciation to the Kingdom of Sweden for hosting those consultations and its continuous interest in establishing peace in Yemen.

He reiterated the keenness of the Yemeni government under the leadership of His Excellency President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi in achieving a lasting peace based on the three agreed upon references; the GCC Initiative, the outcomes of the National Dialogue and the UN Security Council resolutions on the Yemeni crisis mainly resolution no. 2216 (2015).

The Vice President pointed out that as the government offers more efforts and concessions to make the Stockholm Agreement mainly the part thereof on Hodeidah city a success, the Houthi militia faces those efforts with more stubbornness, foot-dragging and playing games.
