FM meets UN Under-Secretary-General Voronkov

Foreign Minister Khalid Alyemanyhas met with the Under-Secretary-General of the UN Counter-Terrorism Office on the sidelines of the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Alyemanystressed the importance of the efforts exerted by the Office to strengthen international cooperation to combat the threat of terrorism, the latest of which efforts was the UN High-level Conference of Heads of Counter-Terrorism Agenciesin UN member states.

He pointed out that the Yemeni government's efforts in combating terrorism are going ahead and that terror groups have been uprooted from several areas of the country.

He stressed the importance of the Office's support to Yemen with expertise and capacity building.

On his part, Voronkov welcomed the Yemeni government's efforts in fighting against terrorism and its interest in promotingthe joint international action againstit.
