MPs condemn Houthi confiscation of humanitarian supplies in Hodeidah port
[04/06/2018 12:08]

ADEN-SABA
The different blocs of Yemen's parliament have condemned the Houthi confiscation of humanitarian supplies that enter the county through the Red Sea port of Hodeidah.

In a joint statement issued today, the blocs of all political parties said: "The blocs are following ..the catastrophic humanitarian consequences of the coupist Houthis' takeover of the capital Sana'a, Hodeidah port and other provinces. ..Although the port should contribute to alleviate the humanitarian crisis which the Yemeni people are enduring, the putschists have rather turned it into an outlet foor importing ammunitions and smuggled arms, which protracts the war and increases the suffering of the persevering Yemeni people."

"We emphasize the importance of the three terms of reference for peace; the UN resolutions mainly resolution no. 2216, the GCC Initiative and the outcomes of the National Dailogue," said the statement.

"Real and lasting peace will only come if (the rebels) commit themselves to what the Yemeni stakeholders agreed on and the international community and the regional community recognized."

The blocs said the unjust war and siege that the rebels impose on Taiz city requires an urgent action to break that siege and drive the rebels out of the city's circumference so that the city's residents can enjoy life in peace.
