Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Shaya Zindani on Tuesday stressed the importance of close coordination between the government and the World Food Programme (WFP) to ensure humanitarian interventions are aligned with urgent needs, improve efficiency and transparency in program implementation, and expand sustainable projects that maximize the impact of international funding.

Yemen's ambassador to Tokyo discusses possible resumption of Japanese aid

TOKYO SABA
Yemen's ambassador to Tokyo, Samir Mohammed Khamis, discussed with Mr. Hiroshi Oka, the Director-General of the Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau at the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs the possibility of resuming development projects and assistance to Yemen which Japan used to provide to Yemen before the cooperation was interrupted by the Houthi insurgency.

Khamis expressed Yemen's appreciation of Japan's assistance to Yemen in various humanitarian and political fields. He pointed to the latest developments in the political and military situation in Yemen and the successive victories achieved by the army in the different fronts against the Houthi armed rebels.

Oka said he would discuss with his country's competent authorities the possibility of revitalizing development projects that Japan provided to Yemen but their implementation was stalled because of the war.
