The General People's Congress (GPC) has renewed its rejection of a meeting a handful of persons held in the GPC's name and their election of a so-called new party leader under the influence of Houthi militants in the capital Sana'a.
On Sunday the GPC's leadership called it "a bid to hijack the party."
"The absolute majority of the GPC permanent members are now outside Sana'a," the party's press statement said on Sunday referring to the mass fleeing of GPC members from Sana'a following the Houthi brutal campaign against them in early December.

Theparty's branches said that "hold fast in supporting President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi as the leader of the GPC."
In their statements they said that "President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi is the head of the GPC party as per the party's 7th General Conference."
