There is no end to internal displacement without a lasting comprehensive peace, human rights activist, Yemen's former envoy to Geneva, Dr. Ibrahim al-Adoofi said Monday.
Al-Adoofiwas chairing "Coercion and Displacement in Yemen", a seminar organized by the Coalition for Monitoring Human Rights Violationson the sideline of the 36th session of the HR in Geneva.
He called on the international community to address the issue of forced displacement which is practiced and caused by the Saleh-Houthi militias.
He said that the government is working earnestly with a number of world countries and donor organizations to address this problem.
The chief of the Executive Unit for IDP Camps Management NajibAssadi said the number of IDPs was 2,442,289 by May 2017, most of them are concentrated in Marib and Taiz.
IsamAshaeri the director of Sah Organization for Rights and Freedoms said that between 1st January and 31st July 2017, 2404 households were coercively displaced. From those IDPs, 4546 were women and 5640 were children.
Ashaeri called on the Saleh-Houthi coup militias to stop targeting civilians and planning landmines to allow their return to their regions and to allow humanitarian organizations access to the cities to gather facts and figures in this respect.
