Leadership Council Avows To Take All Measures To Prevent Violations of Yemeni sovereignty
The Presidential Leadership Council (PLC)held an extraordinary meeting chaired by His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, the Chairman of the Council, with the presence of all its members Sultan al-Aradah, Tariq Saleh, Abdulrahman al-Mahrami, Dr. Abdullah al-Alimi, Othman Majli, Mahmoud al-Subaihi and Salem Al-Khanbashi to discuss national and regional developments and the proposed policies to address them at all levels. The Prime Minister Dr. Shaya Zindani was in attendance.

YJS records 130 violations of press freedom in first half of 2017

Yemen Journalists Syndicate (YJS) said it recorded 130 cases of press freedom violations in the country during the first half of 2017.

Addressing a seminar held on the sideline of the 36th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva on Wednesday, Nabil Al-Oseidi, a YJS member, said: "195 violations were committed against journalists and journalistic institutions; killings, assaults, threats, confiscations of journalists' gear and properties, dismissals from jobs, tortures, attempted murders, hacking of websites, court trials and intimidations."

The killing (of journalists) were three cases, kidnapping and arresting 39 cases, torturing, eight, and trials, 10, he said.

"Eighteen journalists are still abducted since the years 2015, 2016 and 2017. 17 of these are kidnapped by the Houthi militias. One journalist is captivity of al-Qaeda in Hadhramout."
