Yemen, UK discuss efforts for achieving peace
[24/05/2017 10:40]

Riyadh, (Saba)- Prime Minister Ahmad Obeid bin Daghr discussed Wednesday with Ambassador of the United Kingdom Simon Shercliff latest developments in Yemen on the light of current efforts of the UN Secretary General Envoy to Yemen and coordination between the two countries in this field.

Bin Daghr asserted Yemen's solidarity with the UK against the denounced terrorist attacks targeted Manchester recently and killed and injured dozens of innocent people. He asked the UK diplomat to convey his deep condolences to the British government and people.

The meeting dealt with quick implementation of the three references agreed upon nationally and internationally to stop the war.

Bin Daghr reviewed concessions made by his government for the sake of peace and its positive reaction with the UN efforts. But he warned that moving out of the three references; the Gulf Initiative, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and the UN Resolution 2216, will only be legitimizing practices of gangs and rebel militias, which are totally rejected.

He highlighted historical ties with the United Kingdom and its role in supporting Yemeni people and its government to restore the state.

For his part, the UK ambassador confirmed his country's support to the legitimate authority and exerts efforts to implement the political solution to stop the war.
