President Receives Head of European Commission in Yemen

Riyadh, (Saba)- President Abdo Rabbu Mansour Hadi met Tuesday with the Head of European Commission's Delegation Antonia Calvo-Puerta and discussed with her issues of enhancing cooperation between Yemen and countries of the EU.

He looked forward to an active role from European countries for supporting Yemeni people in humanitarian and development fields and alleviate humanitarian suffering due to wars being waged by rebels' (Houthi-Saleh's alliance) on the people.

"Despite all challenges and difficulties, we are working on normalizing conditions and providing services to realize security, peace and stability aspired by our Yemeni people and to put an end to suffering imposed by rebels on our society," said President Hadi.

He added that the key peace in Yemen is that will be based on the three references; the GCC Initiative, the National Dialogue Conference's outcomes and related UN resolutions, specifically Resolution 2216.

For her part, Calvo-Puerta expressed pleasure for meeting with the president as this meeting comes in the framework of exchanging ideas and enhancing cooperation between European countries and Yemen.

While she confirmed EU countries' support to Yemen and its legitimate authority, she conveyed a verbal message from the head of EU dealing with here full support to Yemen and constitution authority and hoped realization of security, peace and stability to the people.
